49th Week Out, 29th week in Juazeiro, Fortaleza

Dear Family and Friends This week its still been pouring rain all week and its the best thing ever! I think every night of this week I went to sleep to the sound of rain! Only thing is showers have been really cold!

Me and my companion worked very hard this week and we helped a man named Pablo to be baptized this Sunday. He is 24 years old and he is the brother to Reginaldo who was baptized a couple weeks ago. Before we found Pablo he had been drinking and using drugs and just everything bad. EVERYONE here in the city of Juazeiro knows him because he would go door to door begging people for money so he could go buy drugs and drink, when I say everyone knows him I'm not exaggerating either!  As we walked with him to the Church Sunday night for his baptism everyone in the road was like "Parabems!" congratulations!, is it really you man? I can't believe it! "Oh what a blessing from God" etc... Pablo was baptized and after he came up out of the waters his smile was so big he even started clapping his hands! and who baptized him? "Junior!" My recent convert from a month ago who has been staying FIRM! he received the Priesthood 2 weeks ago and this Sunday he go to use it as he baptized Pablo! I'm so happy for the blessing I have to be here In Juazeiro there's no other place id like to be, It will be hard to leave here 1 day!

I love you all and thank you all for all your love and support!

  • NO ONE ever has gas I swear every car I get into that little light that says you have no gas is always on in everyones car and sometimes the meter goes past the empty line! and when people fill their cars up they never fill them up all the way they will just put in like 10 dollars for a couple miles.

Junior on the far right baptizing Pablo in the middle.

What a great feeling to see you baptize someone and then they use their new Priesthood to baptize their friend.
Elder Azevedo's time grows short as we celebrate hard work with fun comfort food!

48th Week Out, 28th week in Juazeiro, Fortaleza

Dear family and friends this week I traveled on that 8 hour buss ride to Fortaleza for a meeting with all the Zone Leaders, looks like these meetings happen at the beginning at each month.

This week its been raining all week like Pouring rain! I haven'

t seen rain like this for 7 months when I was in my other visa waiting mission in Arkansas! It was really fun as me and Elder Azevedo were the only ones in the streets here in our white shirts and ties, everyone just looking from their window like we were crazy. Yes we still proselyte in the rain here in Brazil! But Me and Elder Azevedo were just having a blast of it I don't know if you knew but when it rains, if you kick a tree it will just poor with all the water on the leaves, so this week consisted of me and my companion trying to soak each other as we walked under trees. As for the work its great we have many people progressing and I hope to see a baptism here next week!

Love you all and thank you all for your love and support!

You know just plant trees in the middle of the road?!

47th Week Out, 27th week in Juazeiro, Fortaleza

Well transfers came and went and I will be staying here with Elder Azevedo! this is his last transfer so he will have here with me! As for me I'm so happy to spend my time here in Juazerio! What luck I have as it looks like I will get to stay here next transfer too when my companion leaves. I hope to spend 1 year here in Juazerio! its grown so much since I have got here, I've seen so many people be baptized by me and many other elders and sisters. Its so close to being a stake here. When Apostle Elder Anderson came, he said that 1 day there would be 5 stakes here! and right now its only a District so that just goes to show you that the church is growing so fast here.

As for our zone there was many changes so I'm excited for some new faces! Our zone has 12 missionaries if I didn't mention yet.

This week Junior our recent convert who was baptized 2 weeks ago gave us a tour of a 36 floor hotel his company in building. He works overseeing the project so he took us up all the way to the top and it was soo cool! Only thing is we had to walk up 36 floors because there is no elevator yet. it was super cool to see a super tall hotel not finished and the view of Juazeiro was amazing! But anyways that was my week and I love you all and thank you for all your love and support!

Looks like the Salt Lake City Temple... just kidding this is a huge Catholic church here in my area.
The massive hotel we went to see at the top (no elevators) just hugh!  Just like the church is growing here in Juazeiro the city is growing as well!

46th Week Out, 26th week in Juazeiro, Fortaleza

Dear family and friends wow 2016 came and went so fast, and what did I do for the new year? I went to sleep! that's right for the first time in 19 years I spent it sleeping #missionarylife.

Anyways this week was great we had 2 baptisms! The first was a young man by the name of Jades I met him one night at a family night he was there with his brother who was a member and I made sure to hop right in and get him to come to church with his brother. He went and loved it, he then assisted a baptism and felt the spirit, we helped him recognize that it was an answer that this is the Church of Jesus Christ and from that day forth he wanted to be baptized, his brother Michael was baptized with him Saturday night and he was confirmed Sunday.

We had another baptism for a man named David. his younger brother is a member and this man David has been receiving the missionary's for over 1 year but never was baptized. We passed by this last month and helped him have a desire to be baptized, taught very simple principles and always bore our testimonies and this Saturday night he was also baptized by his brother and confirmed Sunday.

I know that the Lord will bless us when we are keeping the commandments and doing the lords will. To see the fruits of your labors is the best part of the mission! I love Juazeiro Do Norte and I Hope I stay a little longer!

I love you all and thank you for all your love and support!
